After School Programs

Enrich your student’s experience with an after school program/event!

PTA is proud to offer a variety of parent-led or visiting instructor activities. Review and signup below! Plans are underway for 2019-2020 school year! Have an idea for an after school program? Contact us!

Note: If your child attends Champions after school, they are able to attend these programs! They will be sent to Champions following the class/activity by the instructors.

Students are welcome to bring a peanut-free snack from home to eat before before classes begin.

Mondays

Chess Scholars Gr K – 6

Develop your child’s intellect through the royal game of chess! Current research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas, including mathematics and language arts. Also, chess has been proven to enhance children’s motivation, concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. No previous knowledge of chess is necessary. Each class will consist of a fun, interactive teaching period and guided practice time. Both beginner and experienced players are welcome and will get to the next level under the guidance of an experienced Chess Scholars coach. There will also be a chess competition with prizes at the end of the session!

Fall Class Dates: Mondays, October 7th – December 16th 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM in the Art/Music Rm
No class: 10/14, 11/25, 12/2

Winter Class Dates: Mondays, January 13th – March 16th 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM in the Art/Music Rm

Deadline for the early bird price of $114.00 is Jan 5th. You can sign up after the deadline for an additional $15. No refunds will be made, unless there is insufficient enrollment. Tuesdays

Let’s Code It Programming! Gr 2-6

Crazy Keyboards- Programming Pros- This new class will help you connect the world around you to computer programming using the Vilros FunForce Controller! First, you’ll program your own creative video game. Then, decide how you want to play the game, using a wide variety of everyday household objects instead of a keyboard. Create a floor piano keyboard and play music with your feet! Turn your seat into a high tech gaming chair, where you tap your armrests to play! This fun-filled class stresses critical thinking, creativity, confidence, teamwork, and problem solving skills to prepare them for the 21st century and
beyond. Each student will receive an award on the last day of the session, and will have the opportunity to earn Code Belts to demonstrate their learned skills!

Gartner School of Spanish Gr K – 6

Known for their delivery of top notch Spanish programs for children ages 1-12, we are sure your family will love Gartner School of Spanish. Their curriculum focus is play based. All teachers are native Spanish speakers and have been chosen carefully based off experience.

  • Grades K-2nd Tuesdays, 3:00-3:45 PM in the Art/Music Rm
  • Grades 3rd-6th Tuesdays, 3:50-4:35 PM in the Art/Music Rm
Dates: Tuesdays starting October 1st through March 17th
No Class: 10/15, 11/26, 12/24, 12/31 or 1/28
Cost: $280 for 20-week program, includes workbook.
No refunds after first week of classes. Classes will be held in the Art/Music Rm at Belle Aire.

Let’s Build It Engineering Gr 1-5

Let’s Build It – Crazy Circuits! is an exhilarating, cutting-edge area of engineering. In this unit, students will design, build, and test various circuits and electronic projects. Instructors will guide students through core concepts of electrical engineering, introducing them to circuits and electrical components. Students will use hands-on projects and experiments to explore how electricity is part of our daily lives. No previous experience is necessary, just a desire to learn and build. Projects will include: a disc launcher, electronic  games, musical instruments, alarms, and more, along with fun-filled class activities! Each student will receive an award on the last day of the session, as well as the opportunity to earn engineering belts to demonstrate their learned skills!

Class Dates: Thursdays, January 23rd – March 12th, 3:05 PM – 4:05 PM in the Art/Music Rm

Fridays

Fitdogs Gr K – 6

Join Counterstrike on Friday December 13th from 3-3:35 pm and get moving! Meet in the gym right after school. Signup here. Note: Signup closes at 8am on the event day so all students know their after-school plan.

Belle Aire Musical Theatre Gr K- 5

This theatre class provided by BAM Theatre  is the perfect experience for elementary school actors! Appropriate for beginners, as well as more experienced actors, this class will study the foundations of musical theatre (singing, acting, and dancing) and also rehearse a small show – The Jungle Book – right at Belle Aire School! The final class will offer a performance for parents to attend.

Participants should go directly to the Art/Music Rm after the 3pm bell. BAM will be there to greet and monitor students. The first fifteen minutes are available for a snack/bathroom break before rehearsal begins promptly at 3:15.

Dates: Fridays 3:15 – 4:30pm  starting Jan. 24th – May 1st in the Art/Music Rm
No Class: 2/28, 4/3, 4/10

Tuition: $215

T-Shirt fee: $20 (students will wear t-shirts for final performance)
